Jul 10, 2023Jul 10, 2023

Chery South Africa has just introduced enhanced versions of the Tiggo 8 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro MAX, featuring a host of added features, upgraded aesthetics, and a completely revamped interior. Here’s all you need to know about the new models, including pricing.

The upgraded model showcases a fresh grille with an illuminated Chery logo as its focal point. The grille’s design, resembling a “galaxy full of stars,” is a reinterpretation seen across all Tiggo Pro models, tapering to a point above the logo. The 2023 Pro and Pro MAX models exhibit an evolved exterior, building upon the acclaimed Tiggo 8 Pro design. Noteworthy features like the trio of waistlines spanning from front to rear lights, the panoramic glass roof, diamond-cut dark alloy wheels, and bold wheel arches remain unchanged.

At the back, redesigned light clusters are linked by a striking LED light bar. Upon vehicle startup, the rear lights illuminate progressively from the central light bar to the lower edges of the tail lamps, imparting a sense of vitality.

Stepping inside the Flagship variant reveals a completely revamped interior. The previous Tiggo 8 Pro’s dual-cluster design has been replaced by two interconnected 12,35-inch screens, forming a seamless 24,7-inch digital display. The dashboard and doors have also undergone a redesign, boasting soft-touch leather, wood grain patterns, and silver finishing akin to the climate control, electric windows, and electric seat buttons.

Addressing user feedback, the Tiggo 8 Pro MY2023 now boasts black leather upholstery, while the Tiggo 8 Pro MAX MY2023 offers plush, dark chocolate brown leather seats with heated and cooled front seats. Both models feature a “boss button” seat, enabling rear occupants to adjust the passenger seat.

Under the hood, Chery has retained what has come before. The Tiggo 8 Pro houses Chery’s acclaimed 1.6 TGDI engine, delivering 145 kW at 5 500 r/min and a 290 N.m across 2 000 r/min to 4 400 r/min. Power is channelled through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission to the front wheels.

Opting for the top-tier Tiggo 8 Pro MAX provides access to Chery’s advanced 2.0-liter TDGI engine. This flagship powerplant harnesses Chery’s latest proprietary engine technologies, delivering 187 kW at 5 500 r/min and 390 N.m between 2 000 r/min and 4 000 r/min. The engine is paired with the same seven-speed DCT gearbox, transmitting power to the front wheels.

“The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro is not only our flagship model in terms of luxury and performance, but it is also our top-performing model globally. As such it accounts for a significant part of Chery’s global growth,” says Tony Liu, Executive Deputy General Manager of Chery South Africa.

The Tiggo 8 Pro MAX has also been chosen as the official presidential vehicle partner for the BRICS summit that takes place in Johannesburg later this month. The event will see the heads of 52 countries and senior delegates from United Nations entities such as the World Trade Organisation and World Health Organisation attend.
